An emerging community vision
Ocean Mineral is imagining a small coastal botanical garden in the Empire neighborhood of Coos Bay—a place where seaweed, native plants, water, art, and community can come together.
The proposed Empire Bay Park would transform an underused space into a welcoming garden featuring a pond, native coastal plants, seaweed-inspired displays, walking paths, and places to pause and enjoy the landscape.
The park could become a living classroom where residents and visitors learn about the plants and marine life of the Coos Bay estuary. It could also provide a setting for workshops, neighborhood gatherings, art, and hands-on environmental education.
